By Region

What Each Part of the Metro Involves

Housing, buildings, and the hardware that comes with them differ across the metro. Expand a region for the detail.

Intown Atlanta: what the area involves

The dense core of the city — Downtown, Midtown, Old Fourth Ward, and the neighborhoods around them — where high-rise access, on-street parking, and a mix of historic and new construction shape most calls. Housing intown splits cleanly into two groups. The towers and mid-rise buildings along the main corridors are largely recent construction or recent conversions, with electronic entry at the building line and conventional lever or deadbolt hardware on the unit doors themselves. The residential streets behind them hold pre-war bungalows, Craftsman homes, and small multiplexes, many with solid wood doors, original or period-style cylinders, and strike plates that have loosened over decades of seasonal movement. Renovated homes commonly mix the two, with a modern deadbolt on the front door and considerably older hardware on side and rear entrances that nobody has revisited.

North Metro Atlanta: what the area involves

The northern suburbs and office corridors — Buckhead, Brookhaven, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Chamblee, and Alpharetta — a mix of single-family homes, condos, and commercial parks. Subdivision housing dominates most of the north metro, typically with three or more exterior doors per property: a front entrance, a rear or patio door, a door between the garage and the house, and sometimes a basement or workshop entry. That last group tends to be the least inspected and the most likely to bind when it is finally needed. Newer construction increasingly arrives with a keypad deadbolt on the main entry, which shifts the conversation toward code management and override keys. Condo and apartment communities through Buckhead and along the Perimeter use standardised hardware managed by property staff, where the resident's practical concern is whether a unit was rekeyed at turnover.

East Metro Atlanta: what the area involves

The communities east of the city — Decatur, Stone Mountain, and the surrounding area — with a large share of older bungalows and mid-century homes that often carry original door hardware. Decatur is dominated by 1920s to 1950s bungalows and cottages with solid wood doors and original mortise or early cylinder locks, many of which are repairable rather than needing replacement. Stone Mountain and Tucker lean toward mid-century brick ranches and split-levels in subdivisions built from the 1950s onward, typically with a front deadbolt, older hardware on a carport or side door, and often a separate lock on a basement entry, workshop, or detached garage. Across all three, outbuildings secured with padlocks and hasps are common and are usually the least-inspected point on a property.

West & South Metro Atlanta: what the area involves

The west and south stretches of the metro — Smyrna, Marietta, Vinings, and the airport-corridor cities such as College Park — spanning newer subdivisions, older town centers, and commercial frontage. Smyrna combines mid-century ranch homes with extensive newer townhome communities, and is a high-turnover market where key history is the central concern and move-in rekeys are routine. Marietta spans many decades of construction, from older homes near the square with period hardware to subdivisions built from the 1960s through to current construction. College Park holds one of the region's larger historic districts, with early-1900s homes on wood doors and older cylinder or mortise locks, alongside newer residential sections with conventional hardware.

Practical Detail

How Coverage Actually Works

Coverage across the Atlanta metro is not a fixed boundary drawn on a map. It reflects which of our locksmiths are working which parts of the metro at a given moment, and that changes through the day and week. An area that is comfortably covered on a weekday afternoon may have thinner availability late at night, and the reverse is occasionally true as well.

That is why the areas listed on this site are described as a general footprint rather than a fixed promise of availability. It is also why our team will check a specific address rather than answering from a list, and will be straightforward with you if coverage for your location at that hour is uncertain.

Distance matters too. The metro is large, and the drive from one end of the north metro to the other, or from the northwest suburbs to the airport corridor, is significant. Telling our team which part of a city you are in, rather than only naming the city, helps them line up a technician who is already nearby rather than one starting from the far side.

If your neighborhood does not appear on this site by name, that does not mean it is outside the coverage area. The pages here cover the areas that see the most consistent activity; our team can check anywhere in the wider metro.

FAQ

Service Area Questions

Is the coverage list exhaustive?

No. It reflects the general footprint. Which technician is available for a given call changes with time of day and demand. If your area is not listed, our team can still check coverage for your address.

How is coverage organized?

Into four parts of the metro: intown, north, east, and west and south. Each has an overview page and individual pages for the areas within it.

Does coverage change at night?

Availability depends on which of our locksmiths are working at that hour, so overnight coverage can be thinner in some areas than during the day. Our team will tell you plainly what is available for your address.

Why does the part of a city I am in matter?

Because some cities in the metro cover a great deal of ground. Knowing whether you are near a downtown area or further out lets our team send a locksmith who is already working nearby.

Do you cover areas outside the ones listed?

Often, yes. The pages here cover the areas that see the most consistent activity, but our team can check any address in the wider metro.

Is the service the same in every area?

The same twelve services are available across the coverage area. What varies is which technician is available at a given time, not what work we can do.
